The Physiotherapy Department of the Federal Neuropsychiatric Hospital Aro Abeokuta hosted an accreditation team from the Medical Rehabilitation Therapists Board of Nigeria (MRTB) to evaluate her readiness and suitability for Physiotherapy Internship Training programme.
The exercise took place between 17th and 19th November, 2023.
The team was received by the Head of Department, Dr Iyabode Adetutu Okulaja, and members of staff.
Activities on the first day included a departmental tour and a courtesy visit to the hospital management.
The second day focused on assessment of staff credentials, including professional licences, registration certificates, academic qualifications, and appointment documentation.
Clinical units were reviewed to determine training capacity and supervision structure.

The team also evaluated departmental space, equipment availability, and manpower development.
On the final day, feedback was given with commendation for the department’s commitment to clinical training, quality practice, and staff professionalism.
A courtesy visit was made to the Chief Medical Director to present preliminary findings.
Following the exercise, the department has been granted Partial Clinical Accreditation Status for Safe Practice and Internship Training valid for two years, with recommendations to address gaps in staffing, space, and equipment.

The Certificate of Accreditation was issued on 31 December 2025, and a follow up visit is expected within six months to review implementation of recommendations.
