The Neuropsychiatric Hospital Aro, in collaboration with ISSUP Nigeria, successfully hosted the Universal Treatment Curriculum (UTC 1 & 2) training on Substance Use Disorder (SUD) management from 9th–14th February 2025 in Abeokuta.
Approved by the United States Department of State, the training brought together multidisciplinary professionals from across the nation including Sokoto, Oyo, Lagos, Osun and Ogun States to strengthen capacity in evidence-based addiction treatment.

Facilitated by internationally certified addiction professionals — Olajumoke Koyejo, President of ISSUP Nigeria, and ADN Morenikeji Olaniyi-Agboola — the sessions provided practical insights into several topics including social stigma, recovery management, motivation, treatment systems, and evidence-based interventions.

The MD/Provost, Paul Agboola, demonstrated strong institutional support by attending several sessions.
Neuropsychiatric Hospital ARO remains committed to strengthening SUD services, promoting patient-centered care and capacity building. In demonstration of this commitment, another UTC 1 & 2 and the first UTC 3 & 4 training will be organized by the hospital in May 2026.
